Furniture selection is an important matter for any household or work place. Selection of furniture according to the requirement of your place play key part in getting accolades from the visitors and it also gives a soothing impact to the natives of the place.
In Pakistan we have diversified households. Some are built on land measuring up to 2,000 yards while some are built on plots measuring a meager 80 to 120 yards.

Living trends are changing with time. Scarcity of land along with the exorbitant price of land and security preferences is the main reason prompting people to adopt apartments’ life style.
With changes in living styles, buyers’ perspective is also changing and furniture makers are making more cozy designs according to the requirements of consumers.
Along with buying preferences, buying habits are also changing. In past, there was a scenario when people visit specialized furniture markets established at Queens road or at PECHS but now with changing times, buyers are preferring to buy furniture from close proximity to save time and cartridge charges.
Considering all the factors, new furniture markets are coming up in various localities of the city. In this regard, a plethora of commercial hubs are set up in Phase-VIII of city’s posh locality Defence Housing Authority. Among the newly set up commercial hubs, one can also spot the outlets of prominent furniture makers in this locality and public are buying from these outlets.

Keeping in mind the interest and requirements of the people for stylish furniture, Interieur360 opens its new outlet at Khayaban-E- Bukhari located at Phase-VIII of Defence Housing Authority (DHA).
Interieur360 opens this outlet with a sole objective to provide high quality furniture to the customers for residential and commercial purpose. Customers coming to Interieur360 are offered a wide array of furniture choice for their bedrooms, lounge, dining rooms and other places.
To give authentication to their brand, Interieur360 has designated iconic entertainment personality Faysal Qureshi as their brand ambassadors.

A ceremony was organized recently in which Faysal Qureshi officially inaugurated this first outlet of Interieur360 in the mega city of Karachi.

Talking about having Faysal Qureshi onboard as brand ambassador, the management of Interieur360 echoed that a lot of thought was put in by us when appointing a brand ambassador and we all were unanimous in having Faysal Qureshi as our brand ambassador. Faysal possess a diversified personality and we want to link his personality traits with our furniture because stuff offered by us carry lot of variety and it perfectly fits the requirement of all our prospective customers.
At the inaugural session, Faysal Qureshi was upbeat for his partnership with Interieur360. He was optimistic that public will praise the furniture offered by Interieur360. Faysal also pledged that he himself put in positive efforts to promote Interieur360.

A large number of social media brigade was present at the venue during the inauguration ceremony and they use this event as an opportunity to take selfies with Faysal Qureshi.

Ireland capable of upsetting Pakistan’s applecart in its maiden test match By Khurram Zia Khan

It is a pinnacle for any cricket playing country to attain test playing status from ICC. Already ten countries have test status and now recently two more countries attain this status.

Ireland and Afghanistan are the latest entrants to test arena deserve and they deserve accolades for showing consistency in their performance and attaining the status of 11th and 12th test playing nation respectively.
Irealand's captainWilliam Poterfield and Pakistan's captain Sarfraz Ahmed
pose with the trophy.

Afghanistan is slotted to play its maiden test match against India in June. On the other hand, Ireland will enter the test arena by playing Pakistan a test match at home from 11th May to 15th May.
Once it was a tradition that a team entering test arena will play its maiden test match against England. This tradition was so deeply rooted in the annals of cricket that England send two teams at the same time to New Zealand and West Indies as both these countries were granted test status at the same time and to maintain status quo, two English teams were send to different countries at the same time.
The tradition that England will play a debutant country was broken in 1952 when Pakistan played its maiden test match against India at Delhi.

India has the privilege of playing against three test debutants. Other than Pakistan, they have also played against Zimbabwe and Bangladesh in their maiden test matches.

Pakistan will be playing against a debutant country for the first time. A common thought is that an experienced Pakistan team  which is playing test cricket for more than 65 years will stream roll the inexperienced Irish team but in my view this is not an easy task.

Ireland’s team have a psychological advantage as they have beaten Pakistan in a match of 2007 cricket world cup played in West Indies. Although after that match Pakistan have beaten Ireland in numerous international matches but the scars of that particular defeat often come back to haunt Pakistan and the architect of that victory Boyd Rankin is the part of Ireland’s test squad. Rankin will be the only Irish player not making debut tomorrow as he has already played a test against Australia in 2013/14 ashes series. Other key players for Ireland in this maiden test will be O'Brien brothers, Paul Stirling and William Porterfield

Ireland’s team has a huge advantage that their players know the conditions better than Pakistan. Though they are inexperienced at test level but have players in their squad who have played more than 100 first class matches and this experience at first class level will help the Irish players a great deal in the upcoming test match. Knowledge of conditions and experience of first class matches can prove helpful. It is because of these factors that Zimbabwe was able to hold the mighty Indian team to a draw in its maiden test match at Harare.

Pakistan’s test team is considerably weakened after the retirement of its stalwarts Misbah Ul Haq and Younus Khan as a result of which a weakened Sri Lankan team was able to whitewash Pakistan in the test matches played in UAE few months ago.

Pakistan in recent months has shown good performance in shorter version of the game but unfortunately nation’s combination in test matches is unstable. Pakistan team is in a test and trial stage and is unaware of their best combination. In my view Pakistan should go in with six proper batsman, a wicketkeeper and four bowlers. Pakistan in two practice matches have tried Faheem Ashraf to fill in an all-rounder slot but this experiment failed so far. On the contrary the good omen for Pakistan is that Shadab Khan has bowled well in the two practice matches.

While embarking on the tour, team management was firm that in early summers in UK, a leg spinner will not be successful and team may go in with four seam bowlers in test matches. Shadab khan with his performance in side matches proved them wrong and now his inclusion in the test squad is almost certain. Presence of Shadab khan will give the surprise element to Pakistan’s bowling line up and also allow captain to rotate his fast bowlers. Ireland’s players are good players of fast bowling but are alien against leg spin. Shadab in the absence of Yasir Shah can also prove handful in the test matches against England later this month.

Pakistan think tank should play Asad Shafiq at No.5 or 6 in the batting line up. Although Asad is an experienced player but his performance in the lower middle order is better and team management should keep him on the batting slot which he liked the most.

Australia is the only team to win its maiden test whereas Pakistan, West Indies and England tasted their first ever test victory in the second test match of their history.

Ireland has the experience and capability to surprise Pakistan team which is historically susceptible to moving ball and can become second team after Australia to win their maiden test match.

Early news suggests that this match will be played on a green pitch and Pakistan have to remain alert and play carefully and sensibly to prevent Ireland from winning its maiden test match.

My suggested squad for this historic test match against Ireland is Azahr Ali, Mohammad Sami, Inam Ul Haq, Haris Sohail, Babar Azam, Asad Shafiq, Sarfraz Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Amir,Hassan Ali and  Mohammad Abbas

Fahad Mustafa,Mehwish Hayat & Khalid Malik
The ad was screened and we loved how direct and powerful it was and we have great expectations from it.

The event was star studded with celebrities present from all fields of entertainment looking wonderful as ever, including; the ever energetic Khalid Malik, Bilal Ashraf, Faryal Mehmood, Zara Noor Abbas, Asad Siddiqui, Azfer Rehman, Saima Moor, Sana Javed, Sadaf Hamid, Danish Hayat, Rao Ali Khan, Beenish Pervez, Nadia Mistry, Naeem Ul Haq, Mona Imran, Ubaid Sheikh, Abdul Samad and Mr. and Mrs. Asad Ul Haq.

A couple of celebrities gave their remarks over the launch of this new product where Faryal Mehmood said, “No more drama, no more lies, it’s time to switch.”

Brand Manager Noshin Ahmed shared her views with the media and said, “I was thoroughly pleased with how the event took its course and would like to personally thank all those who attended it. We are confident this product will do great in the market.”

Coca-Cola partners with Edhi Foundation again for Ramazan fundraising By KarachiChronicle

Karachi : Following last year’s exceptional response to Coca-Cola Pakistan’s fund-raising campaign supporting the Edhi Foundation, the Company has once again announced their partnership with Pakistan’s leading humanitarian and social welfare services organization for this Ramazan. The ‘Eidi for Edhi’ campaign aims to inspire the people and evoke values of generosity and kindness for an integrated fundraising drive to be implemented nationwide.

Rizwan U. Khan, General Manager of Coca-Cola, Pakistan & Afghanistan said, “As a caring corporate citizen, Coca-Cola realized last year that it was our moral responsibility to do whatever we can to support the Foundation at a time when it was facing a decline in its own fundraising efforts. Drawing on our core strengths, we undertook a massive communication campaign last year, with the full intention of repeating it this year, and I am pleased to announce that our campaign this year will be even bigger and more effective, drawing on all the learning of last year.”

Edhi Foundation from its inception has relied on public support, and traditionally donations, both zakat and non-zakat, have registered a huge increase during the holy month of Ramazan. Without the enlightened leadership of Abdul Sattar Edhi though, the Foundation had faced a decline in donations during their first Ramazan after Edhi Sahab’s demise. As such, Coca-Cola’s ‘Bottle of Change' campaign became a positive instrument for donations to the Edhi Foundation last year, persuading people to donate even more than before to the Foundation and thus help keep the great work of Edhi alive. The core message of the campaign this year remains the same, with the appealing slogan, ‘Eidi for Edhi’ reawakening public consciousness and willing people to come together for a great cause.

Faisal Edhi, the son of late Abdul Sattar Edhi and the present head of the Foundation said, “Coca-Cola’s campaign had triggered an immense momentum last year, helping the Foundation raise considerable funds during Ramazan. The funds were used to extend the Foundation’s charitable work to even more under-privileged people, and based on the success of last year the Foundation was keen to partner with Coca-Cola again this Ramazan.” He also expressed appreciation for Coca-Cola’s several other interventions for other good causes, partnering with reputable non-profit organizations, like with The Citizens Foundation for education, the WWF-Pakistan for environmental conservation, the Kashf Foundation for women empowerment, Rotary International for eradicating polio, and the Indus Earth Trust for water related projects.
It is to be noted that the Eidi for Edhi campaign has no commercial angle whatsoever, and the fundraising is in no way related to product purchase. Coca-Cola will itself match all public donations received up to a cap of Rs. 25million. Also, this year the Ramazan fundraising will build further on last year's partnership by evolving the Bottle of Change into the concept of ‘Eidi for Edhi'. Emirates will commence its signature Ramadan service for customers during the holy month, expected to begin on May 18th in Pakistan. Emirates’ Ramadan service consists of specially crafted iftar meals on board, relevant programming on its ice inflight entertainment system, and the distribution of dates and water on the ground for those breaking their fast.

Emirates provides iftar boxes with a nutritional meal for customers breaking their fast on board. The boxes have been redesigned this year by local homeware specialists Silsal Design House. The designs are inspired by the Middle East, its people, places and culture. Silsal has also created bespoke Emirates Arabic Coffee Cups available at the Emirates Official Stores.

The iftar boxes provide a nutritious meal for customers to break their fast and includes couscous salad & grilled chicken or moudardara & roasted chicken, sandwiches, spinach fatayer or tomato and onion fatayer, assorted sweets, dates, laban and water. The boxes have been designed for customers to take away if they wish. The menus will be refreshed mid-Ramadan.
These special meals will be available to passengers across all cabin classes on select Emirates flights that coincide with iftar times. This includes flights to and from the Gulf region as well as flights catering to Umrah groups travelling to Jeddah and Medina during the month of Ramadan. During the holy month, cold meals will be served in lieu of a hot one on all flights to Jeddah and Medina, including Umrah day flights.
Emirates utilises a unique tool to calculate the correct timings for imsak (the time to commence fasting) and iftar while in-flight. It calculates the exact Ramadan timings using the aircraft’s longitude, latitude and altitude; ensuring the greatest level of accuracy possible while on board. When the sun sets, passengers will be informed of the iftar time by the captain. This tool was developed to supplement the Ramadan timetable, available on every flight.

Date boxes, symbolic of Ramadan, and water will also be provided at boarding gates allowing customers to break their fast prior to boarding, or while boarding at Emirates’ hub in Dubai International Airport Terminal 3 and other selected Emirates destinations.

Emirates lounges in the airport provide dedicated prayer rooms and will also be serving Arabic coffee, dates and sweets.

Emirates’ award-winning ice system features special religious programming including A’aelat Ramadan Kareem, Fa Esalo ahil il thekir and Al Baqeyat Al Salehat, as well as Ramadan entertainment such as Bou Tbei, As-hab Al Hemam and Hayat Thaneya. The special Ramadan programmes are part of the diverse content available on board with up to 3,500 channels of on demand entertainment including 238 Arabic channels featuring movies, TV, music and audio.

Eid festivities kick off on board

For the first time, Emirates is extending its special service to celebrate Eid with customers on board. Those looking to do some shopping in time for Eid can enjoy a 20% discount for onboard duty free purchases over US $95 from 11 to 15 June.

From 14 to 17 June, customers can look forward to sweet treats on select flights. In Economy Class, customers will be served Eid cookies, while in First and Business Class, customers will receive a box of chocolates. In addition, First Class customers can enjoy a special Eid edition of the Lakrids candy. Lakrids Crispy Rose flavoured liquorice will be offered on all regions during Ramadan and Eid.
As a global airline, Emirates has been delighting customers’ palates with regionally-inspired cuisine, and special seasonal menus for widely celebrated events like Chinese New Year, Christmas, Diwali, and Ramadan. Its signature Ramadan service with special iftar meals has been a mainstay for over 20 years and illustrates the airline’s commitment to providing customers a comfortable journey throughout the holy month.

Healthy animals are vital for producing nutritious milk By Karachi Chronicles

The importance of milk can never be overestimated, especially when it comes to Pakistan. It is an essential part of our diet. Apart from direct consumption, milk is also used in making a variety of traditional and non-traditional dishes at our homes.

As the holy month of Ramzan is now approaching, I am sure that milk consumption in urban and rural areas of the country will increase dramatically as it is a popular belief among the people that consuming milk either in its purest form or from products made with milk such as lassi, fruit shakes and smoothies will help them fast in this hot weather without facing any inconvenience.

Two of the cereals which are specifically Ramadan-centric are Khaja and Pheni. Lovers of Khajla or Pheni buy them from the shops and during Sehri, they crush it and put them in a bowl of milk and eat it.

Mothers are always on the lookout for finding ways of adding milk in their children’s daily diet. Being a mother, my spouse make omelet for my kids and she always make sure to add Olpers milk in this omelet which not only gives it a unique texture but also enhances its flavor.

When it comes to milk industry, we are indeed a lucky nation. Milk is perhaps one of the few commodities in Pakistan of which the demands are satisfactorily met. Pakistan is the 4th largest milk producing country in the world. According to economic survey of 2016-17, Pakistan produces more than 45.227 million tones milk per annum.

Unfortunately, the milk sector in Pakistan is highly disorganized. Although this industry caters to a huge percentage of the population, most of the people are actually unaware regarding the proper methodology in taking care of their livestock. Not surprisingly, our animals also suffer from malnutrition. The gawalas, instead of looking after their animals properly, resort to illegal means like injecting buffaloes with Oxytocin to get more production without realizing the harmful impact this treatment has on the animals and also on the milk produced by these injected animals. The unhygienic living conditions of the animals make matters worse. The udders of the animals are dirty which then affect the milk taken out right from the beginning. During the whole process of supplying milk from the supplier to the end consumer, milk is treated with various chemicals and processes which further add on impurities. It is doubtful that the milk you consume provides the same amount of nutrition as it was supposed to.

While the government was unable to tackle this milk mafia, fortunately for the consumers, private sector decided to venture in this milk producing business. Packaged milk producing companies like Engro Foods are taking various steps to train the farmers in taking care of animals. Engro Foods vaccinate the milk producing animals and they make sure that the farmers dispose of the milk which has been left open for a few days. And to cover their losses, Engro Foods pay the farmers their decided amount.

Rani the cow , which was introduced by Olpers milk in their recent TVC along with hundreds of other cows, is being kept with love and care. They are fed with the best available food which is full of nutrition and are given the best possible environment to live in.

Milk collected by Engro food from various sources is brought to the factory and after going through stringent tests and procedures, Olpers packs this milk with utmost care to preserve its natural goodness and supply it to the consumers living across the entirety of the country to brighten up their mornings.

Olpers is indeed taking a step in the right direction. We need many similar initiatives from private sector and from the government. It is to be hoped that in the upcoming years, the dairy sector of Pakistan will go through drastic improvement and give Pakistan an even better recognition in global market.

With the advent of holy month of Ramzan, TV channels in Pakistan unleash Ramzan show on its viewers. These shows are highly commercialize shows with focus is restricted on cooking or health related issues along with religious discussion. Ramzan shows may have entertainment value but unfortunately they are devoid of material though which to interact with audience and viewers.

In this scenario, GEO TV network in this month of Ramzan aired its show Ittehad Ramzan which is superbly crafted and carry the required elements to connect with viewers and also to create awareness in them about religion and other important matters pertinent to daily life.

This show is hosted by crowds’ favourite host the evergreen Rabia Anum along with Sami Khan.
This show is divided in many segments and my favourite segment is Dil sey kehdo. In this segment, participants are provided with a platform to voice interactive arguments on a various interesting topics. 4 participants deliver their debates and the winner is sent to the quarter finals. The winner is also get lot of gifts.
Yesterday’s Dil Sey Kehdo segment was unique because of the fact that all the debaters were blind. They expressed their thoughts on the given topic with zeal and passion. The judge was so impressed by their performance that he declared all of them winners.
Iconic cricketer Shoaib Akhtar was the guest in show for two consecutive days. Shoaib enjoyed his participation in the show and praised GEO TV for organizing this interesting Ramzan Show.

CSR segment is another worthy segment of Ittehad Ramzan .In this segment, needy and grief-stricken families are invited on the set. Donations are raised for them in live transmission. Audience on the request of Rabia Anum and Sami Khan contribute generously for this noble cause. NGO’s are also invited on this platform to find new ways and methods to help needy families.

Few days ago, CSR segment helped lost mothers in finding their families through GEO Television’s special Ramzan Transmission Itehad Ramzan.

Jaan kar Geo, the kids story segment is another interesting segment in which Warqah, the little story teller, narrates religious stories. A different and inspirational story is narrated each day having lesson and guidelines for the Muslim Ummah

Sada-e-Hassan. A naat competition and Rabb-e-Zidni Ilma, a quiz competition based on religious questions are also popular among the fans of Ittehad Ramzan.
The segment Qasas-ul-Quran is hosted by Umair Rana. This segment sheds light on the events discussed in Holy Quran. A different event related to a messenger is discussed every day. Ziyarat (pilgrimage) to sites associated with our prophet Hazrat Muhammad, his family members, His companions and other venerated figures in Islam such as the prophets are carried daily.
The life events and way of life of the Sufi personalities is discussed in the segment titled ‘The Allah Walay’
Ittehad Ramzan is another pioneering effort of GEO Television. Hope in future audience will view more shows which promote love and harmony in society and make a genuine effort to unite public.

Nurpur highlights the importance of milk

Milk has always – for as far back as we can remember – enjoyed a staple position in the diets and therefore in the homes of almost every Pakistani family. Whether we are filling our cereal bowls at the breakfast table or giving a glass each to the children before they leave for school, baking a birthday cake for our parents or simply enjoying a cup of freshly brewed Chai at multiple points in our day, milk is what’s constant.

Think about it for a moment. When was the last time you opened your fridge to find that milk was not inside it? When was the last time you or anyone from your household went out for groceries and left milk out of the list? When these instances occur, for one reason or another, it tends to feel very odd because milk is a commodity that is expected to be there at any and all time. The bottom line is that it will always be very important to us. Inevitably, milk is a major ingredient in the recipe to continuously bring us closer together as a family.

This is exactly what is being depicted in the TV Commercial; how much of an all-rounder milk is. On one hand, this Commercial being part of a Ramadan campaign, seems to lack in making that distinct connection for viewers – other than the obvious glass of Rooh Afza. However, there is an emotional undertone; the children’s presence generates warm sentiment and perhaps plays on nostalgia for viewers to think back to their childhood and how milk has been there for them since then.

A big round of applause also goes to the directors and producers, who have collaborated to use the great shots taken and bring them forth with exquisite special effects (eg: the milk being swirled around in the tea cup, tornado-like). The whiteness of the milk really stands out, showcasing purity and essentially adds to the aesthetics of the TV Commercial, overall.

Correspondingly, the children’s involvement in the kitchen reminds viewers how vital it is to ensure safe and healthy products for our children to consume. Nurpur’s infographic at the end of the TVC assures this; their year of inception is highlighted, indicating their longevity in the dairy industry. Furthermore, their tagline states “some traditions are forever,” which implies it is committed to providing this aspect of quality and consistency to all. There are many contenders in the packaged milk industry; however, their milk coupled with longstanding tradition is a position that Nurpur is enjoying on its own.
